David Godfrey | Senior Pastor
Coffee, Tottenham, family and Christ are all words (not necessarily in that order) which reflect the passions of David. Dave or David (he doesn’t mind which) joined FFBC in February 2019, after serving for 8 years on the Gold Coast . He comes with more than 20 years pastoral ministry experience in three different cities. Over this time he has had the opportunity to serve on various boards and task-forces ranging from a focus on mission, to leadership, and city wide ventures with other churches. He has also been involved in setting up and leading a charity, written hundreds of blogs and he has been on several radio programs. The thing he loves best is being a pastor, and being involved in the lives of people.
Most important to David though is not what he does, so much as why. He believes that living with Christ and following Christ is simply the best way to live. As such, he is passionate about seeing people going deeper in their understanding of Jesus, whether that be someone who is just checking out Christianity, or whether it’s a seasoned follower of Jesus wanting to go deeper. He also holds the conviction that faith is not a solo journey, and everyone has the potential to draw the best out of one another and have the best of us brought out by others who we do life with.
David is happily married to Jenny, and has three children, Ethan, Liam and Ainsley.
Fun Facts
“All the boys are twins” – David is an identical twin and his sons, Ethan and Liam are twins. So all the Godfrey boys are twins.
“Don’t marry that guy” – Before Jenny and David knew each other well, they had a head on crash while go-carting. After Jenny pulled to the side of the track, a little bruised, her best friend said to her, “make sure you don’t marry that guy.” Thankfully Jenny didn’t pay attention to this advice. David and Jenny have now been married since 1995.
